Had a suspended license with three points...

I haven't had a ticket or accident since I was 17. I'm 38. So under your logic, I'm not a good driver, just "lucky" for 21 years? And I drive well over 20,000 miles a year at work alone.

Had a suspended license with three points...

I think the roadblock is the fact that your license was suspended at one time. That is a pretty big deal when it comes to being insurable. You could try and contact some attorneys to see if they could do anything about it (I doubt it). Otherwise you may be out of luck until it drops off your record.

    Liberty Ambulance Los angeles County

I thought the same thing. You know a company is in bad shape when they resort to things like this.

    rectile bleeding

Isn't that why we do vitals? If the PT is hypovolemic I can treat that. I can't treat a rectal bleed with pressure. The best I can do is place some gauze in the area to absorb the blood. Other than that, I can treat for the blood loss. If you choose to take a gander at his or her butt, that's...

NY EMT-P looking to move south before winter

Agreed! I know Austin-Travis County EMS and Williamson County EMS are hiring again. The economy isn't bad like it is in other areas of the country and most government agencies have lifted hiring freezes.

    What does Turfing mean?

We have wait time protocols. If the ER doesn't place the PT in a room after waiting for 20 minutes, they get put in the lobby or placed on a bed next to the triage area. The ER's abused EMS for many years as free PT babysitters. At one time we spent hours watching our patients in the hallway...

    emt-b abroad?

Can't beat the area, Reno/Tahoe area is great. As far as EMS, there are worse things than SSM. REMSA is a very good system, especially for someone first starting out. Do they have any rural stations that are 24 hours? I know of some systems that run SSM in the urban areas, but still have 24 hour...

    Shady Companies In LA City

Exactly! I know a couple guys who lost their certs. One gave the wrong med and didn't own up to it. Had he admitted he did it and reported it, there would have been no problem. But he lied to cover it up and lied to the health board who revoked his license. The second person had a drug problem...

    Questions about IFT job...

Use your free time to look for another job. No need to work on equipment like that, whether you are new or not. Never heard of non-certified personnel operating an ambulance except for volunteer FD/EMS. Get out of there ASAP.

    What does Turfing mean?

Not transporting a patient can be considered turfing. Dropping a patient in the ER waiting room is another term for turfing. Basically any reason to not transport or to hand off the patient to another agency (ie PD, ER lobby) would be turfing.

    emt-b abroad?

I looked at REMSA when we were deciding where to move for a better place to raise our kids. I also know a few Medics who worked for them or worked in Northern Nevada and all said they were a good place to work. One of the turn offs was that they moved to System Status Management a while back and...

    rectile bleeding

I'm not going to look at his or her butt anymore than I would look at a female patient's vag for a vag bleed. If you can visualize how much blood has been lost on clothes, toilet, bed sheets, etc and/or the patient can tell you how much they have been bleeding and there is no trauma MOI, I don't...

    emt-b abroad?

Southern. I used to work for MWA which is now owned by AMR. All the FD's in Clark County are trying to push out the private companies. North Las Vegas already tried, but the franchise contract prohibited it (and their busted budget couldn't pay for the lawsuit AMR would have brought against...

    Relocating to NYC next September

How can anyone make a living living in NYC in FDNY EMS pay? Starting pay for a Paramedic is only $43,690!!! That is peanuts for one of the most expensive places in the world to live in. I would think you could do a lot better staying in Florida as a Paramedic.

    emt-b abroad?

Private ambulance companies are NOT where you want to spend a career. If you really want to spend 20-30 years in EMS, you need to get on with some type of government agency. Ideally you want to try and find a third service. If you are not familiar with what that is, a third service is a...
