    Paramedic Class and Books.

What I have decided and what we can do around my area through our school is, take an Associates in Nursing (2 year course) then take an online course to get my Bachelors in Nursing (+1 year) after that I plan on taking the Med/Fire Rescue class and getting my Paramedic and Firefighter. (+2 1/2...

    Car accident.

No, really the medic didn't really do anything that we hadn't already done, besides start IV lock. I didn't mean it to sound that way that he didn't do his job. I was a little concerned with the extent of the head injury and when we arrived at the ED he told the nurse that it was just a...

    Car accident.

Ok Doczilla, I wasn't aware of that, although it makes sense. PT was cold, and B/P was rising not dramatically, but steady. The drainage coming out the ear was not blood, but clear fluid, which is CSF, right? Her memory was not improving and she did not know what day, where she was going, or...

So I apologize apparently I got some mis-information we are unsure of the skull fracture, but she did complain about pressure in her head and had ear drainage. The Paramedic did push morphine, which I think in contra-indicted for traumatic head injuries, isn't it? She should be getting out...

    Paramedic Class and Books.

Hey guys can anyone turn me on to some good textbooks for Paramedic education. I hope to be starting classes next fall, but I would like to get some studying in ahead of time, (I am working full time so if I can get a headstart on studying that would help, come Fall). I know textbooks and...

    Car accident.

Right our first responder checked right away when she got on scene, there was none then. I checked when we got on scene with the rig, there was drainage of CSF, clear. I am glad for the ALS meeting us, but other than starting an IV lock they didnt do anything that we hadnt already done. I...

    Parnter and C-Collars

Well I did read one article and I am definitely going to read more. The points they made, make sense. Obviously when we took our NREMT clinicals of course backboarding and C-collars were a huge thing. The article I read was basically to effectively immobilize you have to immobilize the entire...

    Parnter and C-Collars

So how do you determine when you collar someone? Sometimes a PT who has been in a car accident and is able to move with no direct head/neck trauma we dont collar, but the ER's get bent out of shape when we bring someone in who could've had C-spine injuries and they dont have a collar.

    Parnter and C-Collars

Right and I do try to correct mistakes when I see them and I do not make a scene about it. And no we dont collar and backboard every trauma. Just stuff the relates to head neck and spine injuries, usually someone says their neck/back is sore. Standard precautions tho I would rather collar...

    Parnter and C-Collars

Yea, I have to feel it out. Its not that she gets worked up and doesnt think, but even in a calm situation just doesnt do it right. I feel kinda bad because I am the new kid, and C-collars seem like something that an EMT should do unconsciously, I mean in any car crash, fall, or trauma we...
