    California Paramedics Hourly pay

San Diego doesnt pay well for any public safety, even the highest paid agencies pale in comparison to LA and OC, and even some in the IE. It's the garbage "sunshine discount" that has been prevalent down there for years. I grew up there, work there and can't afford to live anywhere close.

    Vol EMS question

While i dont dispute that there are quality volunteers out there,as well as terrible paid personnel, i do think that when your livelihood depends on something you tend to work harder at doing it well. My problem with volunteers, is that they are out there devaluing my work. Why should a...

    Vol EMS question

The more places that go to a paid, professional EMS service the better. Outside of some very rural areas, there really is no place for it anymore.

FF/EMT Job Openings in Placentia, CA

And no CalPERS either. based on their pay for BC, the basic pay will be pretty good, but I'll wait to see how their retirement and benefits are.

Possible, yes, easy, no. I had some early talks with an ARNG dustoff unit out of Mather up in SAC. They were uninterested in anyone with less than 5 years of busy 911 paramedic system experience, not to mention, if you weren't local, their unit recruiter really tried to dissuade you due to their...

Why EMS degree could be the standard come 2025

In the better EMS oriented CA fire depts, degrees are mandatory to promote past Cpt and in some depts to make Cap. It doesn't have to be an EMS or Fire related degree. Higher education is a good thing, and while it may not have a direct effect on your ability to function as a medic, I really...

    Paramedics VS Firefighters

LOL. I couldn't agree more, I do drive an engine. The title is a joke as most people don't know the difference. "Why do truckies cut holes in the roof? So they can see the real firemen working inside!"
