    EMS and knees

I agree 100%. I do use a knee stabilizer/wrap thing similar to the one you described. It does make a difference. The older I get the more I worry, one misstep can end your career! But, you can't dwell on it, one day at a time.

    EMS and knees

They always say lift with your legs and not your back, but they never told me about the knee problems! This is my 30th year in EMS and my right knee is shot. After a scope in '96 the surgeon said I had the knee of a 70 yr old and only a replacement would help, so I keep limping along...

    Getting along with co-workers

I am sorry you are in that situation, makes for a long 24 hrs. This is my 28th year and sometimes i wonder why people do the job if they are just waiting for something else to come along. I love my job despite the draw backs, I love helping people and feeling I am giving back to the community...

    Getting along with co-workers

You pose an interesting point I had not considered (about being de-sensitized). In my dept. though you can literally be in a corner by yourself minding your own business and something will be said about you and suddenly you are the center of a huge controversy virtually thru no fault of your...

Wow it's a small world! We have good friends that live on Dewart, their last name is Kesler. Ring any bells? They just put in a new manufactured home after living in a trailer for years.

Thanks for the welcome, sometimes i think dysfunction is what EMS is all about! We are a little ways from Evansville, between Muncie and Ft. Wayne about 12 miles from the Ohio line. Indiana takes alot of knocks but it's home to me! :D

    Getting along with co-workers

Anyone aware of scrapbook supplies with fire/police/ems stickers, pages, etc? Creative memories has a sticker pack (wheels and whistles) but i have used it over and over. My local SB store has a very limited supply. :)

I guess I did this backwards, I posted first without an intoduction! My name is Colleen and I have been with the same department since 1977. (County owned, not affiliated with hosp or fire, rural Indiana). I am an Advanced EMT. Our dept. recently went Paramedic but i haven't taken that step...

    Getting along with co-workers

Thanks so much, everyone, for your kind replies. Like I said, this is a first for me but i just new this problem was not limited to my deptartment, so I searched the web for for feedback. As I also mentioned I've been here forever, so this stuff should just roll off my back. (It's been said I...

    Getting along with co-workers

This is a first for me so bear with me please. How do others deal with the day to day bickering/backstabbing/pot-stirring that seems to permeate my department? (County based EMS, not affiliated with fire or hospital). I've been here a long time and it doesn't seem to change. On scene we all...
