what other careers did EMS expose you to?

piano mover? Wow, sounds almost as bad as transferring bariatric patients! I suppose I may be asking this question for a specific reason. I'm sort of at a crossroads: continue to paramedic school, or enroll in respiratory therapy school where I can make more money and work in a hospital...

what other careers did EMS expose you to?

Ideally, what career do you either have now or worked in that was exposed to you when you worked as an EMT/Paramedic? No doubt RN's and PA's will be high on this list. Any others? Just curious.

    Vague medic school question

Can you successfully become a paramedic without working as an EMT? Absolutely. Can you make it much easier to become a paramedic and likely learn more at the same time by working as an EMT first? Absolutely. This pretty much sums up how i feel about all the great responses. My overall...

Anyone here worked in this sector? I know the position is more in line with law enforcement/security and less ems, but often these positions ask for direct patient care/interaction as experience. Pay seems to be pretty decent as well (loosely speaking). Thanks!!

    relearning the basics?

great answers from all! I am hoping to start Percom's medic program sometime in 2014, but would like to be prepared as possible! I checked my local training center, and they have some upcoming refresher courses which I will be doing post holidays. Until then, it'll be book reading and online...

    relearning the basics?

Hey all, took my EMT training about 2 years ago, feel like I am gradually losing knowledge, as the ambulance company I work for mostly has their Basics doing wheelchair transfers (no complaining, I am grateful, just explaining myself), thus I find I haven't been able to apply my skills as much...
