I have read my protocols and I know them. I simply want to continue reading and learning beyond my Paramedic cert. I'm not looking at an easy way out of learning. I'm not going to be carrying this around on calls trying to teat some obscure problem. I've completed my Paramedic and now just want...
I'm looking for something to increase my knowledge and understand diseases and treatments. I'm not looking to play field doctor. Just trying to gain some more knowledge on it. Any specific pathology textbook better then others?
I'm looking for a signs and symptoms with treatment ref. book and was wondering if anyone knew of some good ones. Found some on Amazon but would like to hear of any others. Thanks
We run Medix rigs with a few McCoy Millers and the Medix don't hold up. They look nice, but they go to crap fast. They are always needing repair. Some are better then others depending on engine and style, but in all I would stay away from them. They won't hold up long on rough terrain.
Also in my area basics can only assist with the PTs meds. Basics can't go into the ALS bag and grab Nitro to give, even if the PT is prescribed nitro. Has to be out of their bottle
For LOC, PT has to be alert and able to swallow. Can't put oral glucose in their mouth if they can't swallow. If they're unconscious putting anything in their mouth could become an airway problem. In my area basics can only assist, so that would mean the PT is A&O.
That school will allow a CPR only to go through Paramedic school? I thought the standing pre req was EMT-B cert. I don't know of any EMS agencies that will pay for a CPR/1st Aid card. Volly squads would allow it, but it's vollunteer of course. So you don't have Basic card?
I think for the most part wackers are fine. I mean sure the light bar costs more then there car, but you can sure see it flashing out side of the following EMT- B class when he is showing it off. I've had a few bad run ins with :censored::censored::censored::censored:ty wackers. 2 I really...
One summer... Wow. My class is 2 years for Para. I know there are bridge programs where you can become a Paramedic in a much shorter time. I think It's 6 months, but it maybe a little less. One of the Pre for that is you have to be a Critical Care(lvl 3/medic) for a min. of 3 years.
Found a couple threads mentioning this, but wanted to know a little more from people that have used this. Does it really make the veins "pop" out when you roll it down or is it pretty much the same as with a normal tourniquet? Is it a big difference between the BOA and normal IV tourniquet? Does...
How it works in my area is EMT-I is a step in getting your Paramedic. You enroll in EMT-P and 1st semester test at I, 2nd at Medic and 2nd year Para (if all med. rotations are done on time). So don't stop at I. Also if you belong to a volly squad the 1st year is paid for by our county. So def...
Just don't stop with EMT I. I'm not sure how it works in all states, but mine you become an I after the first semester of Paramedic school if you get all your rotations in. What are some of the protocol restrictions for an I in your state? Mine you can't start IV's on pt younger then 16 and only...
Anyone ever see the movie "Broken Vessels"? I saw it on Amazon.com and it has some pretty good ratings. I've never seen it, but looking into maybe picking a copy up.
