    Drug seekers

PD was there.. My county doesn't allow refusal of care. My motto... You call... We haul... The ED cleared him before I got the paperwork done.. I know I will be seeing him again in a couple of weeks...:wacko::wacko:

    Stryker Pro series

4 just to steady it We used one on each end and one on each side just to steady it. No lifting involved. That one pt sold me, now I use it on all my pts, they also get a nice smooth lift, without the feeling of weightlessness. This thing is awesome!!!:wacko::wacko:

    Stryker Pro series

I had a pt that was 650 lbs. in a 2nd floor apt. no less!!. This was the only gurney in the county able to support him. Standard Stryker and Ferno are only rated at 500. We had 2 medic units and a engine company there to move him, 8 people total. The longest process was the rope rescue setup to...

Prevention of the Abuse of 911 System

In San Francisco a couple of years ago a pilot program gave paramedics the option to refuse ambulance transport in lieu of a taxi voucher. However the program was discontinued due to abuse, liability, and politics. I don't know the final statistics on the ED visits though.:wacko::wacko:

    Drugs through ET tube

I am glad to oblige.. I was under the impression that Femoral vein or arterial access is considered central not peripheral. When are you allowed to do a central line in the field outside of a sterile environment?:wacko::wacko:

Work Experience as Intermediate Before Paramedic?

FT is dead on... I have been though SEVERAL partners over the years who just couldn't deal with the stresses of the field. One didn't even finish the first shift. My EMT-B partners (2) are both really well adjusted to the EMS/911 response life. Both have been with me for over a year now. They...

    Drugs through ET tube

EJ if it is available of course... Femoral ? I am looking for veinous not arterial access.. We are not allowed to access arterial lines in field.:wacko::wacko:

    Medics BLS'ing Traumas

You nailed it.. Same thing.. ETOH, AMS, Head injury-- get you a niffty collar, stiff board, and sharp pointy thing enroute to the CT scanner... LOL...:wacko::wacko:

    Drugs through ET tube

We don't do it anymore... We got the EZ-IO this past year and in the same protocol update the county removed the tube administration route. Now 2 sticks, then straight to the drill...:wacko::wacko:

    Stryker Pro series

My unit has a Stryker Pro gurney for lifting HEAVY pts. The county is thinking of using them in their units as well. Does anybody else use the automatic lift gurney? I love this thing... Maybe my back will last longer...:wacko::wacko:

    Vacum Splints

Vacu Splints We use them on our rigs. They come in 3 sizes and are great for isolated wrist, knee, elbow, and ankle injuries. The problem is getting them back after the call. Our ER doc usually don't remove them until after the x-ray which sometimes can take awhile. Also keep the kit together...

    New Trainie Help!

All of the above and a good rescue knife/tool. I use a gerber rescue knife my chief gave us for xmas. It is great. Extra pens.... They disappear on every call... Plus they can get contaminated...:wacko::wacko:

    GPS on the Ambulance

We have used them on our transport rigs in S.F. The new people don't know the city that well and it helps them get to know the districts, hospitals, and conv. homes. I have a alpine touch screen in my bus but it doesn't get used that often. I have work my district for 4 years and know most of...

    Drug seekers

I feel you pain... Epi I have the same situation with a Freq. flyer. He has skin rash that requires cortizone cream. Every 2 weeks he calls 911 for 'seizures' at 0130 and is waiting outside at the curb. When ask about the seizure he said it was 3-4 hours ago but he needs his cream prescription...

    fedup?

1 call turnaround.. I know how you feel. I work for a private service and end up taking the Medicare/Medi-Cal hand downs. I was beginning to feel as you were until my turnaround call. My EMT-B partner and myself were put on backup coverage because all the first out units were on calls. This...
