    Texas Certification

Yes definitely fax your info cause that will probably speed up the process. Unfortunately for me I don't think it did, cause I had to deal with all the holidays.

    Texas Certification

It took them 6 weeks and 5 days to get my stuff done. If you call before its been 6 weeks, they are going to tell you to wait. I called on the day it was 6 weeks, and the lady I talked to was very helpful.

    the 100% directionless thread

I had my first field delivery a couple of months ago. It was her 5th child so she was telling me what to do. It was a very cool experience!!!

Yes, there is an episode that has Tom Cruise working as a fudge packer. Quite hilarious.

    Police and the ER Entrance

I've never had any issue with cops blocking ambulance bays. The ER we go to majority of the time has a pull through system. And yet even though it says Ambulance, and the doors say Entrance for Ambulance personnel only, civilians still think they can pull in there to drop off their family...

First call as a cleared paramedic

I'm currently doing my rideouts to get cleared to work on my own. We have to do 4-24hr shifts and take a protocol test to get cleared. I had my first code STEMI yesterday, luckily before the bad weather started. 45yo Male, with no history, complaining of Chest Pain 10/10 that started 2 hours...

What have I gotten myself into?

It was definitely a rough ride, but so worth it in the end. Good luck to both of you!!!!

    pregnant emt

My preceptor said she worked until the last week of her pregnancy. I would definitely try and work for as long as I possibly could, taking into consideration my partner and first responders. Don't want them to have to strain themselves because of me.

Not supposed to happen to people like us...

Glad you're ok!! I can't imagine. I almost had a head on once and I'm sure I sounded like a total moron when I called it in. I was so freaked out.

I know Hunt County is looking for PRN medics. I don't know what your cert level is though. I don't think Medstar hires part time people. I think you have to start off there full time then go to part time, at least that's what I've heard. It seems like Arlington is hiring nothing but part time...
