Hi, I just transferred into UNC Wilmington this past semester for spring 2014. I am a junior college transfer, I earned my associates in May, then I took the fall semester off and I took a Wilderness EMT course through NOLS WMI in Lander, WY. My lead instructor was a PJ for 22 years and I will never forget what he said on the last day of the course. He told us that there will be a time when we will be called to us our skills and it would be a tragedy to be unprepared for this moment. Therefore we need to make training a lifestyle to constantly improve our skills. Ok long story short I have dedicated myself to becoming a PJ. My first short term goal is to make the Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue squad, I heard its a good place to prepare for this type of lifestyle. The tryout is April 27th and I don't want to go into the tryout with rusty EMT skills and knowledge. I have been trying to find case studies to practice and watch videos to keep my skills fresh. Basically what I am looking for is someone who would be willing to meet with me and run through some scenarios, teach me a few things, or train with me. If anyone knows of a PJ/ Firefighter/ EMT/ Paramedic who would be willing to talk to me I would appreciate the connection? I will not waste their time.

first off,,

Whats a PJ?

On the other hand, youtube is a great source for review of skills stations and the such.

Wilmington is right down the road from Stonebay, which is the base for MARSOC. There are PLENTY of military outsourced schools around there that do training for them that you may be able to get into. Otherwise the best I can tell you is that you need to get past the physical portion of the PJ indoc more than you need to worry about rescue training or medical training. If you can get past the physical portion, they take their time in making sure you get your Paramedic.

I'm a paramedic/instructor in Wilmington, and am always down for teaching/scenarios. I volunteer for a fire dept where we spend a lot of time training newer EMT's, firefighters, and paramedics. A number of our volunteers have been or still are WBOR members and I'm familiar with their program and have taught at their Con Ed in the past. Don't know any PJ's, but know a few 18-D's in and around the area.

I'm more than happy to cover things with you, shoot me a PM and I can see what I can do.
