I seem to always feel like I'm at the crossroad in life.

I'm on my way to being an EMT Basic. Lately, however, I find myself very interested in possible (in the future) pursuing to become a RN. I want very much to be a Basic and get the overall experience of EMS.

Someone told me that I have to commit to becoming a paramedic level EMT if I am to be hired on as a basic. Is this true????

Depends on the agency, but in general: No.

Some will require you to become a medic within a year (eg fire departments) while others will let you stay a basic to your hearts content.
