Well,

I just got a call from my EMT-B instructor saying that I passed the NYS EMT-B written, so I am officially a NY EMT-B. Don't ask me how she knows, without me actually getting my card. She must, and probably does, have access to info on the website that the normal public can not see. I am stoked, I am looking forward to being able to help the community that much more, above and beyond the normal Fire Department stuff. I just need to wait for my card.

My instructor also knew before I did...apparently they are notified of who all of their class passed before the certs arrive in the mail.

Yeah, the instructors are notified who did(n't) pass the exams. Too many who fail, they instructor may go under review. Stuff like that.

Or the opposite. My instructor (great guy) always had 1/3 of his class drop out before midterm. If you passed the midterm he said that you would pass the final and the EMT cert exam. In 10 years of teaching EMT he only had one perosn fail the cerification exam. This prompted 2 seperate investigations from the state to see how that was possible. The conclusion: he just knew how to teach this stuff so that we would learn
