Who here lives in Hemet, it's ok to admit it, LOL!

Hemet, CA?

I been there. Don't live there though.

Yeah Hemet, CA. We are having real bad Gang problems attacking the Police, so I heard when I was in school that AMR was wearing Bullet Proof Vests, wanted to see if it was true, or if they were trying to scare us from applying here. I live here and think that the media has blown this waaaaaaaaay out of control.

Control or context?
The media makes things wide eyed and bushy tailed. Always take what they say with a bucket of salt.

Of all the places!

Didn't live there, but a movie I wrote, Healer was filmed there (1993). It was a story based on my paramedic experience. I was part of every aspect of the filming. That little town embraced the story and ended up pretty much giving us everything we needed to get the movie made.

You think I'm kidding? I went to the head guy at the (then) local private ambulance company (a dinosaur like me), gave him the script and said, "If this is BS, say NO! but if it's the truth, Help us!" He gave us the pink slip for an ambulance to use for the shoot and equipped it for us, full-on paramedic!!

The town's cooperation and wholehearted support made it possible for this little film to get made. (David McCallum and Tobey McGuire were in it!) The townspeople really deserve all your support; they let us use a floor of the hospital, the ER for a whole day! a nursing home, the FD gave us a day and set up a car wreck, PD shut roads for us and we weren't charged a cent! I literally walked up to a stranger's house (a perfect visual for the scene) and asked if we could use it in the shot. We'd be invited in, served some iced tea and invited to use the interior as well. It was incredible!!

The movie died gloriously as the Opening Night Film of the 1994 Santa Barbara International Film Festival the night of its Premiere! Yeah, I'm working on the revival. Y'all will be the first to hear!

Not yet. I've heard rumors around the station, but so far that's all it's been.
