I was wondering if someone could explain the steps to becoming an Emt Basic in the Los Angeles county after passing the NREMT exam. I understand a background check and an application form for the local agency needs to be completed, but I am really confused about the specifics for each one. Does anyone know the links to the necessary forms or location for the agency?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I just googled "los Angeles county emt" and literally the first hit has the info you are asking for.

I read through the LA county site, but I was wondering if someone could explain it more detailed. For example, the specific forms that are needed to be completed before applying to the agency.

I was uncertain about the live scan portion. I got the form and I understand there is a list of places that preform the service. Do the live scan results get sent directly to the ems agency directly? Thanks for helping me out!

It was so long ago I honestly don't remember but the people who do your livescan will know the details. You will need a second additional livescan for your ambo cert if you don't have that already so you might as well pay twice and get two while you're there.

Yep, that's what I did. Save some time and get your DMV and EMS agency LiveScans done at the same time. Note that the EMS agency LiveScan will be more expensive, since it's DOJ/FBI, while the DMV one is just DOJ.

The information automatically gets sent to the respective agencies, all you need to bring is the completed LiveScan forms. Takes just 2-3 days to get the info sent over, unless you do have a record--then it'll take significantly longer, or so I'm told.

I downloaded the appropriate live scan form for the LA County EMS and just found the additional live scan form that is specifically for CA DMV.

Thanks for your advice! It is definitely is going to save some time. You guys helped a lot. I was so clueless about these forms haha
