What is the best way to get hired for jobs not directly EMT related?

I'm talking things like working at urgent cares, er's, etc. I think the 'I just got my EMT-B cert' isn't cutting it.
BTW, I live in an area where if you aren't a FF then you can't be an EMT in the city. Yet I don't live in the counties where they are hiring/taking EMT volunteers... Urgh
 
Look for a position that is open where your skills and knowledge can be utilized. Don't present it as "I just got my card". Instead, explain the benefits to having someone with your type of training.
