So, I have been looking at schools but they are either too far away from Los Angeles, hard to get in(lots of requirements too) or full time. I need to work, I can't afford to go part-time when I get a job or quit because of paramedic school. I really want to go to paramedic school but it is hard. UCLA is expensive and for other reasons I am not going there. El Camino College, I considered since it is only 6 months but they require a Firefighter Certificate and I would have to go to the academy for that. NCTI is quite far and expensive and I am worried if I don't pass the program it's going to be money wasted. And PERCOM which is where I wanted to go I know the clinical and field hours are less than what California requires so I would have to join a program in CA in order to complete those hours anyways.
So, I was thinking should I instead go to a fire academy since it is a short time and try to be only a firefighter and maybe later in the future become a paramedic? Or should I just go for it in NCTI which seems like the only reasonable option.

Either way your spending 10k if you go to a private school like UCLA/NCTI or if you go to a college program like Mt.Sac. You will have to take nearly a year off of work and you will end up losing around the same amount of money as if you paid 10k and still worked. But its not impossible to work and attend medic school if you have the will power to do so. NCTI is not the only reasonable option you are just making it that way. Start saving money now so you can afford to take the time off.... Stop rushing things no one should be making your life decisions for you. I'm in the same boat you are. Good Luck!
