Woman actually

We have a local hospital that is placing Thoratec® Ventricular Assist Devices in patients on a somewhat regular basis. Many of our crews have had the opportunity to transport these patients for one reason or another. Our entire department has received training on how to assist the patient and/or family member with the device when there is a malfunction to include changing to the back up device or manually pumping for the device. There is some interesting training out there from the manufacturers to assist in the familiarization with these devices.
