A new Jimi Hendrix album has been released. Fellow connoisseurs will notice some tracks that have been previously released; however critics are claiming that this is a careful and complete release that would have been heralded with its own place in his limited discography.

I still hear new licks in all of the old stuff, so this is just gravy for me!

edited to add this link... http://www.rollingstone.com/reviews/album/32441305/review/32510154/valleys_of_neptune

and to add... that i'm heading over to waterloo records right now!

I get tired of looking fro crumbs though.

"Licking" the crumbs, or crumbs of licks, if you will. I haven't heard it yet.

His family has done a bangup job of managing his estate. Too bad he never lived to develop the focus and discipline to fully realize his potential; or, as Phil Graham said once, "Do the next set like that last one and you'll never work here again", or words to that effect.

Favorites Hendrix tracks anyone?

I'm scouring the earth for a 10 minute version of "The Wind Cries Mary."
I read a biography about him called "Electric Gypsy," quite a few years ago and it mentioned the pains that he went to, to cut the song down from 10 minutes to a 3:30 "radio friendly" version that exists on the album.

I don't know that a 10 minute recording of that song exists, but i'd love to actually hear the full version.

As far as favorites....

wow too many of them. however "Hear my train a'comin," "Hey Baby (First rays of the new rising sun)," and "Pali gap" would be what I would take with me if I had only room for 3 songs for the rest of my life...

I'm going with All Along the Watchtower and Little Wing, plus most of his blues stuff. Voodoo Chile is a classic and I'm a big fan of the Stevie Ray Vaughan version of it.
