VA new scope of practice?

So i was reading on the oems for Virginia and i saw something about new skills for EMT's but is that in effect. I start class in a week in a half?

So does these protocols apply to all of Virginia or just the western part? And idk if the skills I saw that were new started in 2012 or so but it's on the Virginia oems website. It was talking about transitioning to the Virginia curriculum something in that nature
 
These are the protocols for Western Virginia region. My EMT-B instructor said that last year was the first year that Virginia was using NREMT as their standard for what we should be learning in EMT-B classes. I'm guessing that is what the "new" skills are that you originally mentioned.

Virginia is divided into various EMS regions...

...each of which has their own protocols. I run under ODEMSA (Old Dominion EMS Alliance) and we're already able to give glucagon and narcan IN as basics.
