Hi guys, I am a prior Air Force firefighter and am located in San Antonio Texas. My wife and I relocated here about a year ago, and I am now looking at attending UT Health Science Centers paramedic program and also completing my bachelors in Emergency Health Science.
With that being said, I have no interest in trying to get hired onto any city or DOD fire departments after my completion. I am truly just interested in medicine and hope to use the knowledge, skills and abilities gained while working as a paramedic, to aid in my acceptance into UT Health’s physician assistant program and in the future while working in emergency medicine. However, I do not know anything about the San Antonio EMS job market and hope to gain some insight as to what pay rates are for paramedics in the area, what companies to look at for future employment and any other advice anyone would like to provide.
