Has anyone take the Texas Reciprocity NREMT test? I have my Arizona state Paramedic cert. and have had it for the last 11 years. I let my NREMT-P go since it is not required in this state, and my department does not pay for keeping it. My family and I are looking at moving back to Texas and I am going to retire from the fire department here. I am looking for information on the assessment test. From what I gather it is the same CBT NREMT-P test everone else takes. Is this true? Not sure what action to take. My options are 1. Take a NREMT-P refresher class and take my practicals and CBT test and get back my National, or 2. Take the assessment test and get my Texas state card.

Any info or advice would be great.

Thank you in advance for your info, cant wait to get back to Texas wich I was born and raised.

Where are you thinking about going? Do you want to stay with fire, or go to another model?

I've been looking at TX reciprocity and it says NREMT is required for initial licensing, so just do your refresher and take the NREMT CBT

Moved to TX

When I moved to TX a year ago and I applied for my TX resciprocity, because I am National Registered, I didn't have to challenge the state test, I paid my fees and they did a finger print and back ground check. :-) I thank God for NREMT. :-)

Yep. From talking to the people at teh DoH they told me the only thing that might be difficult for me to officially prove is ETI training. But I can work that one out :)

Go to the following link and follow the directions, you should be good to go. The difference between NREMT vs State Reciprocity is you will have to have a form filled out by all of the states you have worked in as a Paramedic. With NREMT you just need a current card and supply the number. Hope this helps.
