Swine flu fear grows

MEXICO CITY — Governments around the world rushed on Sunday to check the spread of a new type of swine flu that has killed up to 81 people in Mexico and infected around a dozen in the United States.

Mexicans huddled in their homes while U.S. hospitals tracked patients with flu symptoms and other countries imposed health checks at airports as the World Health Organization warned the virus had the potential to become a pandemic.


Do y'all see anything in this? If so how do you think EMS will react and adapt?

Well, as of right now, every one of my patients is getting asked if they have been to Mexico, Texas or California in the last month, or if anyone they are in close contact with has been.

Just shows how quickly things can get out of control and spread around the world.
Hopefully they have isolated it to that area in New Zealand, although there are the other passengers on that flight,
and the news said about one pupil with it, went to a soccer match on their return.

I'm assuming like most flu's, it will affect the young and elderly mostly???
