Does anyone have any suggestions on a good ambulance company to work for in the Dallas, Tx area ? Im about to start appyling for jobs and i just wanted to know if some are better than others Thank You B)

How far are you willing to drive?

AMR does IFT in Dallas, 911 in Collin County and 911 in Arlington.

MedStar does 911 in Ft Worth.

ETMC does pretty much the rest of Dallas County 911 that DFD doesn't cover.

Almost every other area does fire based EMS except some random outliers.

Amberdt03 and I are both with AMR in Dallas, but she has vastly more knowledge on its runnings... I'm basically PRN.

what are you trying to say linuss? that i'm a loser? lol.

amr also does the 911 coverage for hunt county. pay sucks unless you are on a 12hr truck, and even then its still not great but pays the bills. amr has hospital contracts from parkland, all the hca facilities(medical city, med ctr of plano, etc.) and many nursing homes.

careflite pays more than amr and they have 911 contracts in johnson county, parts of ellis county and they just won the contract in balch springs. they also do ift transfers in dallas. i think some of their contract hospitals are baylor and methodist. they also have nursing home contracts.

i don't know anything about etmc or really tlc. only thing i know about tlc is they lost the balch springs contract.

of course i'm biased but i would recommend amr, only because we are a nation wide company and should you choose to leave texas, you could pretty much still have a job anywhere, pending getting your certs of course. if you wouldn't mind driving to arlington i'd go there. or even hunt county, they run some crazy calls out there. really just depends on where you live. chances of getting into collin county are slim. dallas also has a neonatal/pediatric transport truck out of medical city that i spent a year on and thought it was awesome. any questions just ask and i'll do my best to answer.

good luck in your search!!

I live around the Waxahachie area so Arlington or even Dallas would't be to bad of a drive. Does AMR hire brand new emt basics because i looked and it said at least one year of experiance like most other companies.

i know in dallas they do, but don't know about arlington. i'll ask a friend and get back to you.

also the dallas office is based out of farmers branch now. really not that much further. my old partner used to drive from waxahachie, she lives in duncanville or desoto now.

Dallas hires new because I was so new that I didn't even have my state cert when they offered me a job on the spot.

One of the guys in my medic class is a basic with the Arlington branch and got hired new, but I believe Arlington isn't looking for basics right now

Alright i will look into AMR thanks for the suggestions. I just pass my NREMT today so im about to start looking for a job somewhere.
