I applied for an in-house transfer from the cardiac services floor to a dispatcher position with the ambulance service affiliated with our hospital. My thinking is, were they to consider me for the position and I actually snagged it....that already being a basic, I'd be more visible and known, and perhaps be considered for that in the future? Both positions are full time, I've held my current position as a monitor tech for over six months, the dispatcher position just recently opened up.

Thoughts?

Class will start for me in June as I'm taking a summer session of physiology/anatomy, a requirement for the paramedic program. Also in June we'll finally be done with FF II, as all of us taking the MODS have to take the hazmat portion of MOD C that was inadvertantly left out of our test.

I apologize for not being real active in the forum lately, been stretched a bit thin.

Take care, all.

sound like a plan. Maybe also look at a job as an ED tech.

I applied for a job up in Steven Point wisconsin last week at St. Micheals hospital as an emt-iv tech. I gots calls today and have been sent papers I need to read, sign, and send back. I really dont know what I'm going to do if I get that job. Thats 3 hours north. First off, I have no money whatsoever. I'd have to get a place of my own, which would be nice. But I dont have anything. A couch, pizza cutter, chairs. Nothing. Nor do I have the money to get all that. I dont know why I applied for that job, I just did as a sort of spur-of-the-moment thing. I don't quite regret it...yet. It would be a great job. I hope I get it. But if I do, what am I going to do? I've been going crazy all day thinking about all this. Appartments are fairly cheap up there. about $450-$500 a month is what I was finding. Just going to have to take this step by step. :(
