Looks like the old foes are coming back to haunt us...TB cases is on the rise too.
The outbreak of measles in Auckland has spread from a school and is on the rise.
Parents who oppose having their children immunised at birth,
(which is covered free of charge by the NZ Government) have been blamed for the spread of this outbreak.
Looks like the ambulance staff need a brush up on their infectious disease skills, given this news article,
as the measles outbreak has been known about for awhile now in that region!

Does NZ not do MMR vaccines?

Yes...but it's a parents right to refuse them for their baby, if they wish to do so.
Some folk have it in their head that vaccines are bad and cause many side affects, including brain damage, so opt to not have their babies immunised.
They seen to deem the risk of infection as low.... which has now turned around and biting them on the rear, as these cases of the 1950/60's are reappearing!

We have the same thing here in the states. Parents refusing immunization for their children. Now we have presidential runners who are telling parents not to have their kids inoculated.

Many of the parents here in the states thinks that vaccines are the cause of Autism... I rather be crazy smart and antisocial- then dead.
