Coroner should take over with an EMS observer...and a gag order.

Small towns have their firebrands and their prejudices. Move the venue or change the investigator to someone out of town.
 
Wow got to love small town mentality. Probably get their healthcare info from TV too. Agree that outside agency should handle investigation.
 
That is unfortunate however small towns like that mean everybody knows everybody who knows everybody else because there is usually only one or two paid Ambo's in the town so its very easy to point fingers, especially when one of the Ambo's put forward an allegation of clinical error.

At least we have an Operations Director now who is um, actually an ex Intensive Care Paramedic, unlike the last couple who have been paper pushers.
 
Pathetic that Ambulance officers are being harassed like this. I find it funny that people can point the finger at an ambo(s) and cry 'baby killer' for not successfully resuscitating the child, yet not portion any blame to the parents who probably did not supervise their child properly, allowing them to drown. In a bigger city this would not be a problem particularly if one colleague had a clinical complaint about another- however as others have said, in a small town, everyone knows everyone.
