Really neat pictures of ATLANTIS reentering, taken from the ISS, and one of it transiting the sun.

Why do heat-waves like this seem to coincide with sunspot activity?

Oh, and ladies and gents, we have a 175 meter diameter asteroid passing 0.8 lunar distances from us November eighth. Buy your steel helmets and asteroid catching nets now!

How to figure out how far to run.

Select following values: porous rock asteroid, 45 degree angle of impact, speed about 30, diameter 200 meters, and input the type of rock underlying your target.
Pretty cool, it won't project the crater diameter on the map, but you can click on the city name on lower left, then drag the aerial photo to where you want to se the crater, THEN click to locate the impact.
