Quick-thinking ambulance heroine praised

A HEROIC woman ambulance driver saved the life of a motorist whose vehicle smashed into hers in a horror crash.

The Taupo-based officer was travelling near Rotorua on Friday afternoon when she was confronted by a car that crossed the centre line on State Highway 5 and was heading straight at her.

It is nice to see that in the nearly forty years since 1975 and the establishment of the National Ambulance Officers Training School not to mention the four to six years it takes to become a Paramedic or Intensive Care Paramedic ... the media still refers to "Ambulance Drivers"
