Hey all,

All of the departments in my area including my own are volunteer. This morning we responded mutual aide to a bordering town for the report of an explosion and now structure fire. Chilling reminder of the incident in Middletown, CT early this year. Fortunately, only one party was injured in the explosion and is in stable condition. My family actually owns a company in the lot accross from the building, the explosion was so intense that our building was knocked off the foundation and may have to be rebuilt.

New Milford, Conn. (WTNH) - A New Milford man was taken to the hospital with serious burns after an explosion Thursday morning.

A section of Route 7 was closed to traffic, while fire crews rushed to the scene of a metal workshop on Allen Drive around 8:00 a.m. The victim, 50-year-old Greg Lee of New Milford, suffered third-degree burns, but fortunately, he was the only one in the building at the time of the explosion.

However, Lee was also the last one in the buidling last night, and he told fire authorities that something wasn't right when he closed up shop. Lee said he smelled something funny when he left and when he arrived Thursday morning, the smell seemed to magnify. Then, when he hit the electric garage door opener, there was an explosion.
