I have a question in reguards to preferred experience. I am working on my EMT-B cert. and plan to continue to Paramedic. Right now I spend free time at my local VFD which does some medical. But is mostly fire oriented. Im wondering once I get EMT-B is there a recommended or preferred type of experience from an Employers perspective. Thanks for all opinions and advice!

The only experience considered at my particular service is time spent staffing a transporting ambulance. There's just not a good way to quantify the first-responder role.

My company takes any new certs, But im in CT. and its a part paid part volunteer service, but i think even the local private service takes all newly certified basics. IMHO it really depends on the employer

IT also depends what the job market for EMTs looks like. There are some areas that over oversaturated by brand new EMTs/Medics that trying to find a job with no experience is a crapshoot
