Hey guys and girls , I've decided I want to get a year under my belt as an EMT then get into a medic program. For me I have stony brook university , saint johns university and north shore LIJ.

How did you know which program was right for you ?

Did you have certain expectations ?

Stony brook is the cheapest one by far ($6500) and there starting to take requests for the August 2013 program.

It's unclear if you deciding on an emt or medic program.

For medic look at NREMT pass rates and graduation rates.

Yea it was a little unclear , sorry. I'm currently an EMT-B since this past June.

If you Plan on working in the NYC area go right into p school as soon as you can. I am sure others from the area will back me up on this. It will be easier finding a job as a medic

As for what school, I can't really help you there.

That's the ultimate goal :) ...stony brook only offers it in August , it be almost impossible to get 10k for a class coming up for a different program that is sooner . In still waiting on the fdny to release the civil service exam filing period.
