Hey everyone. I'm currently in the process of applying for admission to a paramedic program at my university. One of the supporting documents is a resume. I have a generalized resume already made, but before I submit anything, should this particular resume have any special format since it is for admission into a paramedic program? Would the "job objective" portion still be relevant since I'm technically not applying for a job? Where would my certifications go on the resume? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hey there.. speaking from experience as a new paramedic student in florida. I did not submit a resume as part of my application process. However, your school is going to want to see proof of ANY healthcare experience (if you have any - I do not and still got in) You may want to arrange a document with copies of ALL your relevant certs (EMT - national and state - BLS/CPR, Drivers license, HS diploma, etc.)

Good letters of rec. may help although your school may not recognize or give any advantage for a having good references - doesn't hurt.

If you do submit a resume, leave out everything that doesn't have to do with EMS/healthcare/public service... undoubtedly your current place of employment is relevant but stick to the KISS approach (keep it simple stupid)

Name, contact info, RECENT education, certifications/abilities, healthcare experience, and clubs/organization affiliations, notable references. (That's all I would really recommend as far as resume for a medic program)

Good Luck!

ya that all sounds fine. I can also email you a copy of my resume if you pm me, should you want to see a paramedic one for ideas. Either way goodluck
