Hi everybody,

after browsing the forums here for a while I couldn't find an answer to my question so I finally registered! I was hoping somebody could shed some light on my situation. I completed my didactic portion of my paramedic school, as well as my clinical hospital rotations in July 2010. I've also already taken my NREMT-P skills testing. There have been some issues with the 911 provider in the California county where I live that has caused some issues with me being able to start my internship.

My question is this:
Is there a time limit to how long after my didactic education (in California) that I can start my paramedic internship?

Thanks!

You took your NREMT-P skills testing, before finishing school? No, not gonna happen. Why did your school not set up your internship for you?

Can't take the NREMT here either unless you have already finished your internship. The hold up might be on a miscommunication between you and your instructor.

The hold up is because our 911 provider lost their contract so they aren't taking any interns. I was told I could do my NR skill testing anytime after didactic and so I did so. My school is attempting to set it up i'm just worried they might not set it up in time... But I don't know if there IS a time limit haha

yes you can take skills any time after didactic. and yes there is a one year time period from when you finish didactic to when you start clinicals. there are allowances made for instances like yours, i am assuming you went to NCTI in the bay area... the school must provide you with one preceptor with in that year or they can loose their accreditation. if you turn down the one they give you you are on your own. and if you went to NCTI they can put you anywhere in the state. best of luck.
