Hey Ya'll,

I temporarily moved to Fremont, CA for work and I'm trying to see if I can get an Emergency Cardiac Care course as well as a Pharmacology in an Emergency Setting course done while I'm out here. I can't figure out if there's a network of CC's out here like back home in Arizona, much less what CC's out here offer Emergency Medicine courses.

If anyone knows of the cheapest places nearest to Fremont, CA, I'd be very appreciative if you'd enlighten me, might even buy you a beer. ;)

Thanks everyone!
Mark

Are you looking for a paramedic program or something like "Intro to ECGs"? I think Fast Response in Berkeley has some of those courses, Unitek in Fremont, Cal State East Bay has some classes that I think you don't have to be a student to take, Westmed in San Jose frequently has classes like ACLS and has a paramedic program too, there is an NCTI in Livermore and Milpitas that has A&P and a Paramedic Program, etc. I could list a bunch more, but it'd probably be easier if you look up specific classes you want and type "bay area" after it in Google. If interested in a paramedic program, Westmed, NCTI, and Foothill are the more popular ones close by.

I just wanna get the only 2 pre-reqs I would need for the Maricopa Community College (in Phoenix) Paramedic program knocked out while I'm out here so I could start in Fall Semester in case nursing school is still backed up.

Here's the course descriptions of what I would take in AZ:

Emergency Cardiac Care (EMT235) 3 Credits

Designed to acquaint all levels of emergency care providers with basic electrocardiographic (ECG) rhythm analysis and interpretation and related care in a clinical and prehospital setting. Required content for the identification and treatment of cardiac emergencies. Prerequisites: EMT/FSC104 or permission of Instructor.

Pharmacology In An Emergency Setting (EMT236) 3 Credits

Designed for the Emergency Medical Technician dealing with the administration of emergency medications in the field as outlined in current paramedic legislation. In-depth coverage of medications enumerated in the algorithms of patient care as defined by the American Heart Association (AHA), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Coverage of medications that interact or interfere with the AHA ACLS algorithms. Indications, therapeutic effect, contraindications, toxicology, and side effects to medications. Prerequisites: EMT/FSC104 or permission of Instructor. MAT082 or equivalency suggested but not required.

Thanks for all the leads, I'll start going through them. I wanna write my old school's med director to see if he'd accept any courses, but I also wanted to make sure that I had some courses and descriptions to look over before I do so.

If you have any suggestions in particular, I'd greatly appreciate your help. :)
