We are in the process of implementing electronic patient care reporting and are using CF-19s. The local hospital has made an HP Laser Jet 4250n available to us to use for printing. We are connecting via USB and are having problems. It seems as if the CF-19 is refusing to talk to the printer.

Is anyone else using this combination successfully, or has anyone else tried with the same results? If so what did you do to fix the problem?

Thanks,

Pete

DO you have the printer software installed on every toughbook?

Not yet. We're still trying to get it working on one before we image all. We have tried two so far. whay?

it sounds like you need to install the driver to the printer to your tough book. you should talk to the hosp's IT to get the driver. it won't work unless you have the software installed. that sounds like your problem. <_<

The hospital IT people worked with me 2.5 hours Friday and then our volunteers worked for several hours today - without success. Th hospital uses the printers but connected via Ethernet on the network. We're using this one as a stand alone - via usb. Both groups at least thought they had the right drivers from HP, but it's still not working. That was why I was looking for someone with experience on this particular lash up.

From experience I can tell you the best way of doing this. Tell your dept to buy their own printer to place in the room. If the one the hospital uses happens to break, then you can not use it, plus they may blame your guys. it is a lot less hassle to supply your own printer and keep it maintained!

Consider adding to the printer setup a dock for the toughbook. All your crews need to do is place the computer in the dock-- the computer recognizes the printer and IDs teh driver, and volia! it prints!

Docks are the invention of geniuses.

Hell, I use them at home...
