Did anybody take the EMT pre-employment test for Pacific-Browers Ambulance in Los Angeles.
I am invited for an interview in the next few weeks and I want to prepare for it.
Any input would be awesome, especially about the physical portion of the test.

Thanks

There really is not much to the test. It is multiple choice with a few fill in the blanks. Just read through your class notes and you'll be fine.

In my opinion, The interview is the more important of the two. Really know why you are going into EMS and why Pacific/Bowers when you go in. They threw a few questions at me that kind of rattled me. I had no scenario questions. It was just a typical interview. Just be confident and answer honestly.

When I hired there was no physical agility. I have seen the weight in the office. I suspect it is just a dead lift with a 90-100lb weight.

If you have any other questions let me know.

Don't worry too much about the physical test. Mufasa is right the interview is always the most important part. My first interview I had in EMS I was so bad.

I practiced the interview with my wife and got really good and confident.

Don't know if this helps, but the hospital based service i just got on with required as far as physical agility: 10mins of cpr - carry an o2 bag up and down a flight of stairs 3 times in about 45 secs to a minutes - crawl or bear walk about 100 FT - deadlift a dummy on a backboard from floor to a waist height and place on a stretcher then back to the floor three times. First weight 195lbs second two at 250lbs - then load and unload the cot into the rig three times. all while keeping your pulse and bp below a level determined by your age.

You'll be fine, your interview will probably be with Randy Marshman. He's way chill if you're chill. Have an answer ready of why you would be a good addition to us and make sure you understand all that we offer. We run ALS, BLS, CCT RN RT MD, nicu, picu, bariatric... if you have any expierence with any of these, bring them up. Good luck.
