hey. i have heard somewhere that applying 02 when its not needed can do some harm to a pt? is this true.? the other day with this in mind, me and my partner responded to an "emergency" at an snf in which a pt pulled out his g-tube. for this call i was driving and she was the tech. when we arrived at the hospital and i opened the back door to the ambulance i saw she had applied blow by oxygen on his trach tube (which also happened to be capped) which i thought made us both look like idiots. anyway, before we transported the staff informed us he had 100% saturation. so when i asked her why she used oxygen she responded by saying, " oh, well he seemed a little anxious" does o2 even help with anxiety? and could this potenually do harm to a pt? or am i just over thinking this??? your thoughts and opinions would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum! Where ya from? tell a little about yourself. ^_^

I would like to direct you to the search button at the top of the page. And search oxygen overuse or something to that effect. And you will find a good amount of view points. That way nobody will feel that they need repeat themselves.
