Anyone have come to Texas and dealt with the waiting game? Seems like it takes forever lol :/

Headed to TX

I'm moving to Houston, TX and began seeking reciprocity.
I started by getting my National Registry completed (hold an EMT Basic), and then fingerprinted here in Los Angels and sent my fingerprint card to FAST/MorphoTrust USA located in Springfield, IL?? Apparently they convert my fingerprints to electronic form and then send them to Texas.
I was told this adds 'weeks' to an application processing that Texas Department of State Health Services publishes as approximately 4-6 weeks on their EMS Personnel Certification/Licensure Application - OUT OF STATE RECIPROCITY.
When I add this up, it easily looks like I'll be waiting near two months. Yikes! This reminds me of California's application process.
Hang in there.

thanks:excl:

Hey...

I moved here from Ohio. Since Texas accepts NR, getting that taken care of was not a big deal. But the fingerprints were a trial.

I ended up taking fire academy down here and getting my fingerprints done on the same morning that I was flying back home to Ohio.

So....yeah, if you're doing your fingerprints in another state and having them sent through to Texas, that's going to add alot of time. But, if you can get down here to get your fingerprints done (for whatever reason, maybe just take a weekend vacation or something), then that will help expedite things.

Take care,

Finger prints is the big thing.

Once that is done its just a matter of time.

My EMT-B took 11 months to process for some reason, my Medic only took about 3-4 weeks.

I did my electronic fingerprints here as soon as I could that was done fast its just the paperwork that is taking forever. And 11 months? That's ridiculous..

Oh ya and they can't tell me anything about my application because I sent a Money order and not a check. But on the sheet for out of state it only says to send a money order.. So annoying!

You may want to call Austin and confirm they'll even accept out of state fingerprints.

When I was in El Paso, I had several reciprocity folks get delayed and subsequently rejected due to out of state prints.

My Out-of-State reciprocity ended up not being all that bad.
Mid-January send off fingerprint card to get processed and converted to electronic form.
Mid February the electronic version of my fingerprints prints are forwarded to the TX DSHS, and today I received my EMT card.
Is the EMT license this paper card, or do they send something a tad bit more official looking?
Any way, the process took 6 weeks for my out-of-State reciprocity.

Just the card. Nothing special.
