Hello everyone,

Im not quite sure if there is an introduction thread like other forums, but ill post it here.

Im currently an EMT B student looking to give back to the community. My plan is to volunteer with a county fire department as an EMT FireFighter to get rescue and HCE, and give back in the long term. Im also thinking of MRC and DMAT.

I have a full time job as a software engineer for an aerospace company. My education background, bachelor and master in computer science.

Im a little lost and maybe indecisive about how i want to proceed with this. I want to be useful and helpful during the time of emergency/natural disasters or even do a short travel to third world countries to assist with healthcare.

I was thinking being an EMT might give me limitations in direct patient care, but i could be wrong which is why im asking those who have experience.

I do know volunteers are look frown upon by paid professionals and im open to part time positions as well.

I was thinking of med and PA school but I have a feeling its an overkill if I want I just want to volunteer or do it as a part time, and that would just be a career shift which I dont mind either. I have second thoughts to that.

I just need your guys opinion is EMT sufficient enough for helping out in healthcare even with limitation in practice scope? Thus, my reason if thinking of going to PA school.

Sorry if my post sounds confusing.
