Last night I had my state skills assessment and somehow I managed to pass. A couple of preceptors got a call and had to leave so they decided we were going to do trauma and medical assessments in one sitting. I finally got in for mine and went totally blank. LOL It took me a minute to get myself together but somehow I pulled through it and passed the assessments and the other skills we tested on. Now I'm just waiting for my NREMT app to get verified and then I'm taking that test as soon as possible.

Anyway, sorry to brag... I'm just glad it's over for a little while. I felt like an idiot when I went blank though... I really hope I wasn't the only one last night who did. I've got a couple of classes I need to take before I start medic but I will be starting that next fall. Maybe I should just consider this next year a coffee break. ;)

P.S. I kindda lied, it's more like two to go. Gotta take EVOC tomorrow.

Congrats.

When we did medical / trauma assessment in my basic class, we had a lot of people freeze.

Hell, one guy, I was his pt and when the scenario started he was like "BSI scene safety" then just stared at me for 15 minutes.

First off, congratz on passing.

NREMT is a wierd/funky test. Make sure you go over everything, but at the same time don't forget the basics (ABCs!!!!). On the test you may be tempted with a few answers, but take the time to read every answer. NREMT wants you to second guess yourself, but don't. Only time I would change an answer is only if your are 150% sure that you will get the following answer right....and about EVOC, from what I understand, is a simple test.

And about Medic school. Many people have many points of view on this, namely whether you should get some field experience or just quickly jump into medic school.Personally, I would want to get some field experience, because I can put everything I learned into application and better instill the knowledge I learned. But, hey that's just me. It is really up to the person making the decision.

Good Luck.
