I'm hoping someone here can help me out with a question. I've recently received my EMT-b certificate in CT and have started to try and find a job, being that I live on the border of NY I've looked into applying for reciprocity.

Now my question is, how do I show a need for reciprocity such as proof of employment if I need the cert for employment.

Your basically in between a rock and a hard place. NY requires either residency or employment. You could find a location that will take you and give you time to get reciprocity, but its very hard to get reciprocity. Ask specific agencies.

Very Simple. Go to an employer, interview with them and show them the NYS reciprocity packet. This packet will show you need proof of employment.

Where do you live in CT? Westchester EMS is always looking and it borders Greenidge, CT. You should have no problem interviewing and getting proof. Just have everything prepared before going in.

I live in Stamford, Westchester was one of the places I wanted to try for, heard good things about them.

hmm are you a EMS institute grad?
So as I said so to the agencies, guess I was wrong about it being hard though

does anyone know what type of mail addressed to me at a NY residence would be sufficient to use as proof of residency?

or if taking a CE course at a community college is considered enrollment in a NY state educational institution.

bills and utilities are proof of residency.

You could always take a NYS EMT class. You will be certified in NY off the bat. I know you already took the EMT class.
