Live in Tx. Have my nremtb and am waiting on my tx cert to come back. I'm considering a move to Az. What are the reciprocities with NREMT and Az?

Was looking at the Az DHS site and found this which sounds like you need proof of nremt AND an Az course completion where my certification is from Tx:

"If you hold EMT certification, recertification, or licensure in another state or jurisdiction, attach:
A copy of each EMT certification, recertification, or licensure held

If you are applying for EMT-Basic certification, attach both of the following:
A certificate of course completion signed by the training program director designated for the course session for one of the following:
• The Arizona EMT-B Course, OR
• The Arizona EMT-B Refresher; AND
Evidence of current NREMT-Basic registration"

Thanks,
Scott

Scott,
When you called the AZ EMS folks what did they say?

Just go in with your national and they should get you an az state card. We do not have a state test or anything just recognize national. We have to be nationally certified to get initial cert then from then on it is a certain amount of CE's, etc

Edit, you may have to take the emt refresher. You can find a challenge class or do the 24 hr refresher. either way it is cake.

Look into the community colleges

www.gc.maricopa.edu or pc.maricopa.edu or pv.maricopa.edu for refresher or challenge classes and dates

When I filled out the info for my state card the woman at the desk was on the phone with someone who asked the same question. If I remember correctly all you have to do is bring in your NREMT card and they will switch it over for you.

It seems pretty straightforward, if you hold EMT certification in another state attach a copy of your EMT cert.

The second paragraph applies to people applying for new certification, who have never been certified before.

thanks for the replies. finally heard back. i can use my nremt for a 6 month temporary in which time I need to complete a refresher that will extend it the add'l 18 months and supply me with perm AZ cert. so, I can do the 6 month by fax or mail and get it turned around quickly.

thanks.
