Greetings everyone,

This is my first post here! seems like a great community.

My question is this - I have passed my national registry but now must wait for my state license (Michigan 4 - 6 weeks to be verified).

Would it be beneficial to start applying for jobs right now? Will I even be considered if I do not have my state license yet?

Or... Should I wait until my state license arrives and add it to my resume for best results?

Thanks for the advice guys! (and girls)

You have your NR, so barring you being a felon without knowing, or some other circumstance, you should be getting your state cert.

So yes, you should start applying now.

yes start applying.

A lot of places I've seen in CO and NM will not just accept the NR cert (and actually NM doesn't recognize NR), they want you to have your state cert in hand

Thanks for the replies so far guys!

Yeah, in Michigan they use National Registry for testing purposes only. You then have to pay $40 to the state to receive a state license.

You have to have a Michigan license to practice as an EMT-B.

I passed the national registry so at this point its only a matter of procedure. Michigan must verify I passed and then send me a state license.

I would just hate to be looked over since I applied during the waiting period (4-6 weeks) and haven't actually received it yet!

You might wanna call the services you're thinking about applying for and ask them their opinion

I got my MI license in about 2 weeks. I applied to jobs and got my license before anyone called
