Hey all, I've lurked around here for some time but been too lazy to join for some strange reason...

Anyway, I'm a newer EMT in Michigan and I was wondering if there was a 3X5 sized card with like most used acronyms, AVPU, GCS, etc etc

Lately (yes I know this is sad) I just draw a blank on the GCS. Like I know each section, verbal motor and eye openings, I just draw a blank on the #'s. I have my little trusty pocketbook I carry around, but I was wondering if someone knows something nice I can tape to my clipboard or something. Or would I just be better off making my own?

Just like the common stuff we all use every day

Anyway I look forward to staying around here and meeting new people

what ones do you want and i'll write one up for you, what level are you at scope wise

I'm really not dogging you for making such a generous offer, but wouldn't it be more beneficial for the OP to make their own card? That way they can look up the acronyms they don't remember, and it will help them to learn the information.

In all honesty, it shouldn't take that long to do.

I made my own using my book and note-card/index cards (the ones with the hole in them and hooked on a D ring)....

The more I think about it, I'm going to agree on that.

I guess I would just like to see formats to get some ideas

Had one all made up during basic class, have no clue where its at now since I've moved

Thanks again everyone, including you Scout, I liked how a few things were on that card. Not everything on it applies to me but I'll be able to make it work.

Acronyms, symbols etc will be the next thing I work on...

Just get a tattoo on your forearms of the different acronyms.:D

write/type em up yourself and tape away.

you dont need any sort of fancy or costly rendition.

the most readily available example for you would be to xerox the applicable pages from your field guide and tape them. give it a few months and you'll have em memorized

Hmmm good idea

I would carry something on my belt, but I have no room. You know the oral glucose, portable jump bag, 3 radios, self defense knife, radiation detector, 2 cell phones with extra batteries, and my bullet proof vest weighs me down....

;)

Might want to rename the self defense knife to seat-belt cutter ;)

If you have a smartphone like a treo or a blackberry there is program called e-medic that has all that stuff on it. It has burn calculators, AVPU, APGAR, GCS RTS etc. All at your electronic fingertips!

Like Kev said it would probably take you 5 minutes to type it out and print it off yourself. We have the GCS posted on the wall in the back of all our rigs for us forgetful ones.

I have taped cheat sheets like these to the clipboard for reports. I also made some up for the SAR vollies, and had them laminated. They are about the size of a business card.

Card

I just made up my own - seemed easier and faster than wading thru all the stuff to try and find one. If you find something that works better, let me know!
