(CNN) -- The New York City fire commissioner on Wednesday replaced the man who led the Emergency Medical Service for six years following sharp criticism of the department for its response to a blizzard that blanketed the city after Christmas.

This seems wrong to me. How is it the EMS Chief's fault that the city didn't plow the streets? Seems to me they are looking for scapegoats and he got it at the chopping block.

I agree. It's not like reports have come out that Paramedics sat in their ambos drinking beer *coughsanitationworkerscough*.

?!?

How is this his fault? With the exception of not activating the volunteer orginizations to help alleviate the workload, this doesnt fall on EMS. It falls on sanitation, it falls on mother nature, and it falls on the citizens of NYC; those who chose to drive, then leave their cars when they got stuck; those who decided that stubbing their toe, or the cough they've had for 3 weeks now needs to go to the ER. Those who told EMS workers, "We didn't wanna walk the few blocks, and we don't have 4 wheel drive, so we thought we'd use your services."

My condolences go out to this man, and I tip my hat for his 6 dedicated years in a position wrongfully taken from him.
