I have the opportunity to join a top quality ambulance dealer who sells one of the premium brands. While I have been the truck equipment business for almost 20 years EMS vehicles are new from me.

What have sales people failed to do for your department?

What do you wish they would offer that they don't?

What do you wish they knew but don't?

From what I've seen, the enter design of the patient compartment in ambulances should be rethought. The ambulances I have been in/responded to calls with have all been class III, and the ergonomics in the patient compartment has not been thought out well. The main issues I see are the following:
1) the needing to either stand up or reach across the patient to get supplies out of the cabinets.
2) The noise level is often pretty high. Be it road noise or from the heater
3) The ride in the back is often pretty rough as well.

things I've seen that I have liked:
1) self-loading electric stretchers (push a button and the wheels come up)
2) CPR seat
3) compartments which can be reached from both inside and outside of the vehicle
4) pass throughs between driver and patient compartments.
