I'm an EMT-Basic looking to go through paramedic training in the New Orleans area this year once I finish the anatomy & physiology class I'm taking. So far I've found the following three schools in the area:

  • Delgado Community College in New Orleans
  • NEMSA (National EMS Academy) in Gretna
  • Nunez Community College in Chalmette
Does anyone have experience with any of these programs? Any input you all can provide will be greatly appreciated. I'm also planning to sit in on some classes and talk with the instructors from each program to help with the decision.

Thanks!

Delgado - I've heard mixed feelings as I am told that you have to do BLS rides where as NEMSA about a month in you will start your rides and hospital rotations pushing meds and starting IVs. I've had a few friends go through Nunez as well and heard both good and bad things.

NEMSA also has other schools around Louisiana.

I would go with whats close to you.
