Good day, fellow EMS providers!
I found this forum by chance while looking up some information on a term being used in an old 70s TV show called Emergency. Some of you old timers (like me) might actually remember when that was a first run show! sigh think I just showed my age there but in any case, its interesting to watch the show (even though it is Hollywood) and note the differences in Emergency care then and now. It is quite remarkable!
I am a retired Navy Corpsman, specialized in Radiation Safety. I retired from the Navy with the intent to leave medicine completely behind in search of a new life. As it turns out, I am right back in the mix. I guess you never really get out of this field..lol
I was curious to know if there were any other EMTs from the Maryland/Pennsylvania area on this forum. It never hurts to network, right?
My primary reason for getting back into this line of work is the FEMA callouts. I have a friend who is a Paramedic / RN, and he has an event standby LLC ambulance service. It used to actually be a full blown transport service type deal, but he had to scale it back. We do deployments with FEMA calouts through AMR contracts. Last year we were up on Long Island with Hurricane Sandy for 18 days. Were any of you out there also on the lot at Floyd Bennet Field? Ugh, we had a Noreaster that blew through and it dumped snow on us! Anyway, looking forward to meeting new people, and sharing experiences and stories.
Happy 4th of July folks!
