Hi, i'm new to this forum, seems like wonderful information. My name is Mel, i'm 24 years old, living in Calif. I work full time, and a mother of 2 kids (ages 1 and 3).

I'm hoping to start the EMT program at a local adult school in Jan. It's a 4 month program, and isn't expensive at all. I'm pretty excited.

Anways, any tips or advice from EMT vets would be greatly appreciated. Hope to get to know you all in the near future!

Oh. In that case, have fun! And that's what it is. It's fun.

Go in confident but modest, and maintain it.

welcome to the nut house.

have a go at the search feature. the topic of what to expect from emt school is a pretty common one.

Are you hoping...

to start working as an EMT full time to replace your current job?

If so, have you spoken to anyone about the typical wages that EMT's make?

I agree...your going to need one hell of a babysitter. or be prepared to stay up late and study once the little ones have gone to sleep. It takes a lot of your time but it is well worth it if it is a passion of yours. The skills you obtain will not only benefit those you help in the field but also your own family. I made it through with my little boy just fine and I'm a single mother. I think if you really put the time and effort into it you'll be fine. Best of luck :-)
