I have 7 weeks left in Basic school and just found out there is a very real possibility that my husband will be out of the military in 6 weeks. If that happens ER will have no choice but to move back home (Texas). I will be getting my NREMT in Washington and the comprehensive practical we take at the end of class counts as the one for the state. What would have to be done for me to cert in Texas? I don't have to do school again right?

Ask the Texas EMS website, but you most likely won't have to retake the class, just take the test for certification.

To my knowledge, you just need to supply proof of recently passing NREMT, then give Texas money. Of course check with Texas DSHS to verify this.

Yea, What he said....I was a bit too lazy to find the Texas DSHS address ;)

Exactly right for TX. Depending on where in TX, though, will. determine how easy it is to get a job. I know when I worked rural EMS in TX as an EMT-I, I basically came in for my interview and they asked when I could start

Thanks guys. Guardian EMS is hiring all over the state according to theory website so that will probably be my go to. I suppose I'll just have to make some phone calls about tesying as time gets closer.

Just be very careful about Guardian... they don't have the best rep in the world. Although apparently some divisions worse than otehrs.

Oh, good to know. Thanks.
