Hello everyone. I am new to the site and had an opinionated question I would like to ask. I am fresh out of EMT class, and am enrolled in the Paramedic Science program at the local community college. I would eventually like to become an RN due to the significant pay difference. My question is, would it be beneficial to complete the Paramedic program and then the bridge to RN or should I scrap that idea and go straight through nursing school.Any information would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

There have been several threads about it lately. If pay is the only reason you're doing it I'd go through paramedic and stay there as there's a bit more to being an RN than just being a highly paid paramedic. Certain excerpts from the other threads that I remember talk about RN's being much more picky about who gets into the field and you should actually want to be a medical professional if you think you're going to make it. There is no question that RN's are not an emergency service at all, they will all tell you they are medical providors/professionals.

If you think you are serious enough about wanting to be an RN for the right reason you might as well skip medic and go straight for a bachelors degree as an RN. Yes you can be an RN with an associates but they are continuously pushing for higher education and a bachelors is nearly the standard nowadays. There is very little similarity between a paramedic and an RN (also from the other threads) so it wouldn't be the optimal use of your time to play the games going from one to the other. Figure out what you want and why you want it and go there.

I have no experience as an RN so all of what I've written is based on what I've read in other threads but seeing that the first thing you mentioned is money I'm sure one of our resident RN's will be around to tear you a new one soon enough.
